Is the Little Justice Leaders Schools Program right for my school?

We only work with a limited number of schools because this program is specifically designed for schools that align with our values.

Here's what we're looking for:

You're a school administrator or staff member with the ability to make decisions about curriculum and professional development programming.

Your school has done some DEI/social justice work. This isn't your first jump into social justice or DEI work. You've laid some of the groundwork, and you want to take it deeper.

You and your leadership team care about justice, diversity, and equity. We don't mean that your mission statement says you're committed to diversity - we work with schools who are actually prepared to make a committment to it.

What exclusive benefits does our school have access to through the program?

Lesson plans, trainings, information, activities, learning, events, and so much more...

Trainings, professional development sessions, and events

Your team will have exclusive access to nu monthly professional development training sessions put on by leading experts in social justice education. These sessions would usually cost schools more than $1,000 each. Here are some examples of the training sessions we've done in the past:

  • Decolonizing your classroom
  • Supporting identity development in culturally affirming spaces for kids
  • Teaching kids about the real history of Thanksgiving
  • ...and so much more!

Preschool-6th grade social justice curriculum

Every member of your school community will get access to our social justice curriculum. Our curriculum helps educators:

  • Save hours each week by using done-for-you lesson plans
  • Respond to difficult moments and teach about sensitive topics with confidence
  • Feel confident the lessons will be developmentally appropriate
  • Teach SEL skills with lessons aligned to the CASEL standards
  • Teach academic skills with lessons aligned to Common Core standards
  • Address a wide range of social justice issues without excessive research and planning
  • Trust that all of the resources are based on deep experience and research with child development and social justice, and they are created by people with lived experience

Community

It's no secret that teachers are burnt out. Our community space offers them an opportunity to connect with like-minded educators, get the moral support they need, share resources, and get re-energized and inspired by the work. Educators in the community could find:

  • Advice for responding to difficult or uncomfortable questions or comments from students
  • Support in finding resources they need on various topics
  • Collaboration opportunities
  • Feedback on lessons, plans, or activities
  • Answers to all of their social justice questions
  • Connection and camaraderie with others who are in the trenches
  • ...and so much more!

“We have been with Little Justice Leaders since the beginning, and I could not be happier! I have used the materials in my classrooms, for my Girl Scout Troop and for both of my girls! Little Justice Leaders has created an amazing community of folks to help everyone inspire young people to be the change in their homes, schools and communities. It’s the highlight of our month!”

Leyna H.

“I can’t say enough about how much my twins and I love Little Justice leaders! As a teacher, I also love that I get already made lesson plans to help support learning through literature!”

Whitney S.

“These materials provide active ways for teachers and parents to engage young people in discussions that are often overlooked or avoided in traditional classrooms. Best materials I have ever received for my classroom!”

Martina G.

“I have been with Little Justice Leaders since it started. It has been an amazing resource for the classroom, small groups, and even for me to continue to unlearn, relearn, and learn historical events. I highly recommend educators and parents to purchase a subscription!”

Nadia

“My kids and I look forward to this every month! Each theme is thoughtfully chosen and mindfully explained. Kids feel real empowerment and part of a solution, rather than sad or overwhelmed by complex issues. What I like the most is that there is a ton of support in the info cards and the readings and activities don’t “talk down” to kids. This one gives me hope for the future”

Robin S.

“I subscribed to the Little Justice Leaders as a first year teacher three years ago and haven’t looked back! I think it is so important for students to learn about history, current events, and social justice and this makes it easy and age appropriate!”

Destinee B.

“Highly recommend Little Justice Leaders for anyone who is just starting on their journey of bringing in more social justice in the classroom. I've been able to get more colleagues to think about infusing social justice into their teaching by just showing them the resources each month!”

Rachel

“We've been Little Justice Leader subscribers for several years. We absolutely love it. Our family has had so many great conversations, ideas, and actions come from our work with LJL. This year we're homeschooling our 4 kids, and it's been so great to use the materials as a jumping off point to lots of other great things to explore.”

Sarah S.

“What a great idea. I bought this for my daughter who is 10 years old as well as my 8 year old son. They are the generation that will change the world and as parents, we must prepare them to be the most compassionate, kind and thoughtful humans they can be. Your company hits the nail on the head with your topics. Bravo!”

FAQ's

Still have questions? Here are some of our most common questions, answered. If you don't see the answer to your question, email Dr. Shelby Kretz at [email protected]

  • How will our educators access the LJL resources?

Every person on your team will get a login to the Little Justice Leaders Equitable Schools Program portal. They can access the community, the PD, the curriculum, and additional resources through the portal. This also allows you to track who has completed which lessons and trainings.

  • How does it work?

When you become a member school, we handle the rest. Here's what will happen: 1. You provide us with a list of team members who need access, and - voila - like magic, they'll have access sent right to their email. 2. Tech problems? No problem. Educators can come straight to us, so you won't spend any time onboarding. 3. Use the resources! Just like that, teachers can start using the resources and attending trainings. We will also talk about how the program should be tailored to the needs of your school!

  • Why should I build a school rooted in social justice?

Social justice education has become a polarizing issue, but more and more families are demanding that schools teach kids about the real issues of our world. Being a school that is leading in social justice will set you apart and help you build an inclusive, equitable school community. Not to mention: kids are taking in messages about social justice all the time. If you aren't helping them navigate this learning, kids can develop fear, confusion, bias, and even hatred. When you do talk to students about these topics, they learn to value diversity, ask questions, and speak up for what is right. It also helps them develop their critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills. Those are the types of learners you want your school to create!

  • What's included in the program?

A preschool-6th grade curriculum, 9 professional development sessions, and a digital community space for educators. Apply now to learn more about what is included!

  • Will the content be developmentally-appropriate for our students?

These are sensitive issues. We get it. All of our resources created specifically for preschool-6th graders by education experts, and our priority is to ensure they are developmentally-appropriate. Our lessons allow educators to talk about the issues at the level they feel comfortable with – and no more.

  • What types of social justice themes do you cover?

Our resources cover a wide range of social justice themes, such as anti-racism, disabilities, immigration, LGBTQ+ identities, religious diversity, environmental sustainability, neurodiversity, and so much more.

  • How do I know the content from LJL is accurate and trustworthy?

This is such an important question because you should be careful about who you get your social justice content from. Here's how we make sure our materials are accurate, diverse, and rooted in lived experience: 1. We work with educator-activists who are fighting for justice AND have lived experience on the topic. So for example, if our resources is about disabilities, we'll work with disabled activists to create the content. 2. We work with multiple content leaders. Even within any identity group, there is a huge amount of diversity in thought and experience. We work with multiple content leaders to ensure we're representing a diverse array of perspectives within the community. 3. We draw on multiple resources for support, and we point educators to those additional resources as well. 4. We partner with some of the most well-known and well-respected activists, educators, and changemakers around. Check out our about page to learn about some of our incredible partners and read what they have to say about our work. 5. We're open to feedback! We don't think we're experts on every single social justice topics (nobody is!). If we missed the mark, we invite our community to let us know, and we'll do everything we can to fix it.

  • How much does it cost?

Depending on your school size and needs, pricing starts at $5,000 per school. After you apply, we'll schedule a call for you to learn about the program options for your school! Discounts are available for districts and multi-school networks.
