“We have been with Little Justice Leaders since the beginning, and I could not be happier! I have used the materials in my classrooms, for my Girl Scout Troop and for both of my girls! Little Justice Leaders has created an amazing community of folks to help everyone inspire young people to be the change in their homes, schools and communities. It’s the highlight of our month!”

Leyna H.

“I can’t say enough about how much my twins and I love Little Justice leaders! As a teacher, I also love that I get already made lesson plans to help support learning through literature!”

Whitney S.

“These materials provide active ways for teachers and parents to engage young people in discussions that are often overlooked or avoided in traditional classrooms. Best materials I have ever received for my classroom!”

Martina G.

“I have been with Little Justice Leaders since it started. It has been an amazing resource for the classroom, small groups, and even for me to continue to unlearn, relearn, and learn historical events. I highly recommend educators and parents to purchase a subscription!”

Nadia

“My kids and I look forward to this every month! Each theme is thoughtfully chosen and mindfully explained. Kids feel real empowerment and part of a solution, rather than sad or overwhelmed by complex issues. What I like the most is that there is a ton of support in the info cards and the readings and activities don’t “talk down” to kids. This one gives me hope for the future”

Robin S.

“I subscribed to the Little Justice Leaders as a first year teacher three years ago and haven’t looked back! I think it is so important for students to learn about history, current events, and social justice and this makes it easy and age appropriate!”

Destinee B.

“Highly recommend Little Justice Leaders for anyone who is just starting on their journey of bringing in more social justice in the classroom. I've been able to get more colleagues to think about infusing social justice into their teaching by just showing them the resources each month!”

Rachel

“We've been Little Justice Leader subscribers for several years. We absolutely love it. Our family has had so many great conversations, ideas, and actions come from our work with LJL. This year we're homeschooling our 4 kids, and it's been so great to use the materials as a jumping off point to lots of other great things to explore.”

Sarah S.

“What a great idea. I bought this for my daughter who is 10 years old as well as my 8 year old son. They are the generation that will change the world and as parents, we must prepare them to be the most compassionate, kind and thoughtful humans they can be. Your company hits the nail on the head with your topics. Bravo!”

FAQ's

Still have questions? Here are some of our most common questions, answered. If you don't see the answer to your question, email us at [email protected]

  • What even is the Little Justice Leaders community membership program?

The Little Justice Leaders community membership is a digital subscription that will help you talk about and engage in social justice issues with your K-6th grade learners. When you join the community, you'll get access to a suite of resources, connections, and trainings to help guide and support you in this work.

  • How does it work?

You can login to our digital community site anytime to access resources that will help you talk to your learners about social justice in an age-appropriate way for kids in grades K-6th grade. The content is packed with resources to help guide your conversations and activities while learning about the topics.

  • Is this for parents or teachers?

Our resources are designed for both parents and teachers! And not just parents and teachers... If you have elementary-aged kids in your life, our community is for you. Our resources are designed to be used with all kids - whether they're your students, kids, nieces and nephews, grandkids, students at afterschool or summer programs, part of religious or community groups, camp members, and more. They're also perfect for homeschooling!

  • Why should I teach my kid about social justice?

We all want to let kids be kids, but the reality is, our little ones are exposed to social justice topics all the time without us even knowing about it. Whether it's from a friend in the neighborhood, an older sibling, or social media, kids are taking in messages about social justice all the time. If you aren't helping them navigate this learning, kids can develop fear, confusion, bias, and even hatred. When you do talk to kids about these topics, they learn to value diversity, ask questions, and speak up for what is right.

  • What's included in my subscription?

In the membership community, you'll find lesson plans, activities, book guides, and other resources to talk to kids about social justice. You'll also get exclusive access to learning events, webinars, and trainings to learn from education and activist experts. Most importantly, you'll connect with a community of like-minded families and classrooms to learn, grow, and support each other. With these resources at your fingertips, you can feel comfortable talking about the theme, even if you have no experience with a particular topic!

  • Will the content be age-appropriate for my kids?

These are sensitive issues. We get it. We pack the membership with resources created specifically for K-6th graders by education experts, and our priority is to ensure they are age-appropriate. Our activities allow you to talk about the issues at the level you feel comfortable with – and no more. Go as deep or stay as surface-level as you want. You know your kids best, and you know what is appropriate for them right now. Remember, you can always come back to the resources later when you feel they are ready to dive deeper.

  • How can I use the membership?

Great question! There are so many ways to use the Little Justice Leaders membership community. Some educators and families will primarily use the lesson plans as a way to save time and bring in done-for-you social justice lessons. Some will use the community to share resources, ask questions, and build meaningful connections. Others will show up for webinars and training events to continue learning. The more you utilize it, the more you'll get out of this community! You can take a lesson and turn it into a monthly thematic unit, or you can set aside a 30-minute block to do a quick social justice unit. It's designed to be flexible to work for you and your needs.

  • What types of social justice themes do you cover?

Our resources cover a wide range of social justice themes, such as anti-racism, feminism, disabilities, immigration, LGBTQ+ identities, religious diversity, and so much more. Here are some examples of themes we've recently covered: - Climate Change - Refugee Experiences - Animal Protection - Celebrating Neurodiversity - Civic Engagement - Black Changemakers - Caring For Our Mental Health - Ocean Conservation - Bodily Autonomy - Celebrating Pride - Understanding Systemic Racism - Fighting For What Is Right - Indigenous Resistance Movements - Digital Media Literacy - Colorism We always love to hear your suggestions and recommendations about what themes to include! If you have suggestions, email Shelby at [email protected].

  • What if there are certain topics I don't want my kid to learn about, or my school/state won't let me teach about?

We get it. Sometimes, you might feel your kids just aren't ready to learn about a certain topic. You know your kids best, and only you can make that call. Or, maybe your school admin or state government has something to say about certain topics. You don't want to put your job at risk! The beauty of our digital community is that you can take what you need and leave the rest. Find lessons on the topics that are important to you right now, and save the other topics for later.

  • How do I know that the content created by Little Justice Leaders is accurate and trustworthy?

This is such an important question because you should be careful about who you get your social justice content from. Here's how we make sure our materials are accurate, diverse, and rooted in lived experience: 1. We work with educator-activists who are fighting for justice AND have lived experience on the topic. So for example, if our resources is about disabilities, we'll work with disabled activists to create the content. 2. We work with multiple content leaders. Even within any identity group, there is a huge amount of diversity in thought and experience. We work with multiple content leaders to ensure we're representing a diverse array of perspectives within the community. 3. We draw on multiple resources for support, and we point our subscribers to those additional resources as well. 4. We partner with some of the most well-known and well-respected activists, educators, and changemakers around. Check out our about page to learn about some of our incredible partners and read what they have to say about our work. 5. We're open to feedback! We don't think we're experts on every single social justice topics (nobody is!). If we missed the mark, we invite our community to let us know, and we'll do everything we can to fix it.

  • What if I want to join but can't afford the membership?

We try our best to make our membership affordable, but we know it can still be out of reach for some families or educators. With our resources, you're getting knowledge from some of the top social justice experts in the world, broken down into easy-to-follow activities and lessons. A lot of time, effort, and thought goes into creating each resource and curating our community, and we care about compensating everyone who works on the materials well. If the price is out of reach for you, please follow along on our Instagram and email list where we give out tons of free resources regularly.
